We get no glimpse into what shaped this character. Not only that, but she holds to the delusion that he loves her. Then comes the story of a nurse who assists Vader’s personal physician and is madly in love the dark lord. Like a character in a Greek tragedy, Tylux seals the fate he hopes to avoid through his own actions. Vader hardly appears in the story, but his presence torments Tylux, pushing him into more and more reckless behavior. Tylux takes his star destroyer and its crew on a harrowing chase after a rebel spy. Fearing deadly reprisal from Darth Vader, Cmdr. From his perspective, Darth Vader is a courageous savior, not unlike a certain Jedi who faced countless trials in the Clone Wars. The boy has no idea he is witnessing one kind of monster fight another. A boy who resists the urge to run watches and through his eyes we see Vader as a fearsome black knight, a brave warrior sent from the heavens to liberate the people. One of the things that's striking about talking to Congressman Raskin, who's serving on the January 6 Committee is that he refers to what happened on January 6th as a fascist coup or a would-be fascist coup sometimes. Sorenson, also known as Sorry, is otherworldly, but this teen romance doesn’t fall into the typical dark, brooding but alluring cliché that others have since exhausted. There is a timelessness to this dark but touching novel, in which a young woman finds herself approaching the unapproachable Sorenson Carlisle, a boy she knows is different and the only one who will believe her story something is sucking the life from her little brother. ![]() Written in 1984, and set in New Zealand, the author’s hometown, this young adult novel might be in the unfortunate circumstance of being unapproachable to current readers. ![]() But even as she tries to stop the bad feeling from coming to fruition, she finds her little brother falling into the clutches of a terrible presence in The Changeover by Margaret Mahy.
